FS Monitor: The Live News Aggregator Every Simmer Needs

FS Monitor will save you hours

By: Frank White /FSS Editor

As flight simulation enthusiasts, keeping up with the constant stream of developer updates, new aircraft announcements, and platform changes can feel like a full-time job. Between forums, Discord servers, and various news sites, it is incredibly easy to miss out on breaking news in our hobby.

Enter FS Monitor.

Recently launched by content creator and developer Osama (who many of us know as Sam), FS Monitor is billed as the very first live news aggregator built specifically for flight simulation. Instead of bouncing between a dozen different websites to see what happened today, FS Monitor brings the news directly to you as it happens.

Key Features of FS Monitor

Sam has built a robust, user-friendly platform that does a lot more than just list links. Once you create a free user profile, you unlock some incredibly useful tools:

  • Live Breaking Alerts: When a major story drops, you don't have to go hunting for it. FS Monitor features a "Live" badge system and browser notifications that alert you to breaking news in real-time.

  • AI-Powered Weekly Digests: If you don't have time to check the news every day, FS Monitor has you covered. The site uses AI to score and summarize the week's events, sending you a custom, native digest of everything you missed.

  • Granular Filtering: Only care about X-Plane 12? Or maybe you just want to see news specifically about new aircraft releases? The site allows you to filter the feed exactly to your preferences.

  • Bookmarking & Native Editorials: FS Monitor provides its own indigenous editorial summaries of the news. If you want to read the full source article, the link is right there. You can also bookmark your favorite stories to save them to your personal profile for later reference.

From a Personal Tool to a Community Resource

What I love most about FS Monitor is its origin story. During a recent livestream, Sam explained that the site was inspired by a mainstream news app called World Monitor. As a content creator, he was struggling to stay on top of flight sim news, so he built a small, personal tool to scrape updates and send them to him via morning chat messages.

Realizing how incredibly useful this was, he decided to scale it up. Using modern UI/UX design tools (Manos.im) and AI-assisted development (Bolt.new), Sam transformed his private tool into a gorgeous, fully-fledged platform for the entire community to use.

A Big Thank You to Sam

It takes a lot of time, patience, and passion to build tools for this community, especially when starting from scratch.

On behalf of Flight Sim Support and virtual pilots everywhere, thank you, Osama (Sam), for recognizing a problem and building such an elegant solution for the rest of us.

If you want to stay ahead of the curve, head over to fsmonitor.io, set up your profile, and start customizing your news feed. While you are at it, be sure to share the site with your flight sim friends!
