One Aircraft, One Cockpit: My Most Ambitious Flight Sim Build Yet! Claimed
In this video, I'm building a dashboard that's completely dialed into one aircraft: the Cessna 172. Desktop Pilot came on board and sent through some of their gear, so we're checking out their throttle box, trim wheel, wing flaps, parking brake, ignition, Hobbs meter, and fuel selector - all going into a custom CNC'd MDF panel. I made some pretty significant mistakes along the way. From choosing 12mm MDF (spoiler: should've gone 17mm), to not measuring the back of the electronics properly, to putting the parking brake in completely the wrong spot - there were a few moments where I thought I'd stuffed it up entirely. The big question I'm trying to answer: Can you actually build a semi-authentic cockpit experience with off-the-shelf products? And more importantly - is it even worth limiting yourself to just one aircraft?
